Preventing Burnout During Busy Season

Preventing Burnout During Busy Season

Certain points in the dance year ramp up fast — regionals, conventions, and travel for competitive dancers; recital rehearsals, fittings, and extra practices for recreational ones. Add in school responsibilities, exams, and the normal pressures of growing up, and busy season adds up quickly.

Busy seasons can be exciting and memorable, but they can also be exhausting. When dancers become physically or emotionally overloaded, it often shows up as frustration, low motivation, attendance issues, or a sudden desire to quit something they normally love.

The good news: burnout is often preventable when studios recognize the signs early and build an environment that values progress and sustainability equally.
